So, I'm shopping for ties and I get to the bow tie section, and I think to myself "bow ties look either very formal, or kind of silly" and I realize that the fashion of wearing bow ties has been lost.
Do any of you wear bow ties [not including formal wear], and would you consider wearing them with a regular suit?

Interesting question, Gregory. There just seems to be a stigma against wearing bow ties these days. I'm required to wear a tie at the office four days a week, and the only time I have ever worn a bow tie at work was right before the Christmas break last year when I had a bow tie that specially coordinated with a holiday vest. One lady friend strongly advised me not to wear bow ties -- except as part of a very formal outfit -- though I recall she said something about bow ties being okay for little boys.
There's also a part of me that sees bow ties as being a little more practical than neck ties. I must confess to being a little bit of a klutz, so I'm repeatedly worried about my neck tie getting wet when I'm washing my hands or getting stained when I'm eating lunch. That's not a problem with bow ties though. Perhaps it's just time for me to get a tie tack or tie clip.
